Founded in London by William Bradbury (1799-1869) and Frederick Mullett Evans (1804-1870). After years as printers, they bought Punch magazine in December 1842 and started publishing. They had offices at no. 11 Bouverie Street, no. 85 Fleet Street, and no. 4-14 Lombard Street, London. Among their contributors of illustrations were John Leech and John Tenniel. The founders' sons, William Hardwick Bradbury (1832–1892) and Frederick Moule Evans (1832–1902), continued the business. In 1872 the company changed names as their partner William Agnew had become a major shareholder. Owners of Punch magazine from 1842-1969.
