- In 1921, Hamilton Ross founded Hamilton Ross Factories, Inc. He later entered the comics publishing business in 1943 with the creation of Remington Morse, producing military-themed digest-size books. The Hamilton Ross name was briefly also used for some issues of these comics. All known comics from this publisher were packaged by Harry A. Chesler, Jr. Features Syndicate, as typically noted on the front and back cover and usually also in the indicia.
Most series published a final issue through Wm. H. Wise & Co., a common surrogate publisher during WWII paper shortages. These issues lack the typical "A Remington Morse Publication" and "Harry A. Chesler Jr. Features Syndicate N.Y." branding on the front, but continue to credit Chesler for the contents in the indicia. It is not know whether Remington Morse/Hamilton Ross arranged for this, or whether Chesler ended up with issues Morse could not take on and went to Wise himself to get them printed.
At least one series, Yankee Comics, appears to fill a numbering gap in Chesler's Dynamic Publications titles, specifically either Scoop Comics or Dynamic Comics. Due to doubt over whether Dynamic Comics #8 might have been published as early as 1942, it is generally assumed to fit between Scoop Comics #3 and #8. There are no known Remington Morse publications that would fill the other number gaps in Chesler's Dynamic Publication series, leaving those gaps a mystery.
None of the comics appear to be dated at all, although the 1949 edition of Who's Who in the Midwest gives 1943 as the starting year for Remington Morse. The assumption seems to be that no series lasted past 1944.
