Founded by Victor Gollancz (1893 – 1967). In 1989, it was sold to Houghton Mifflin, who sold it to Cassell & Co in 1992. Cassell & Co were sold to Orion in 1998, who turned Gollancz into an imprint specializing in fantasy and science fiction novels.
