Won for To Your Scattered Bodies Go (G. P. Putnam's Sons, 1971 series) #nn (January 1971). Part of the Riverworld stories. Two previous short stories, "Day of the Great Shout" in Worlds of Tomorrow (Galaxy Publishing, 1963 series) v2#5 (11) (January 1965) and "The Suicide Express" in Worlds of Tomorrow (Galaxy Publishing, 1963 series) v3#6 (18) (March 1966), were edited into a single novel.
