Issue Notes

One of a series of six "cartoon books" created by the U.S. Information Agency as a part of a propaganda effort towards the countries of Latin America to promote anti-Communist and anti-Fidel Castro Cuba feelings.

Part of a larger effort called Operation: Mongoose, these comics were a part of a broad propaganda campaign in the region, per:
Memorandum from the United States Information Agency Operations Officer for Operation Mongoose (Wilson) to the Chief of Operations, Operation Mongoose (Lansdale), Washington, D.C., July 20, 1962 (from the Kennedy Library, National Security Files, Meetings and Memoranda Series, Special Group (Augmented), Operation Mongoose, 7/62. Top Secret, now Declassified), (Retrieved 31 May 2016, from the Office of the Historian on the Department of State web site: https://history.state.gov/historicaldocuments/frus1961-63v10/d356).
