- Synopsis
- On Rann, Adam Strange and Hawkman escape from a battle that has left Katar injured. Adam recalls the events that led him to this situation, starting with Adam stranded on Earth when the Zeta beams that he was expecting were mysteriously diverted to other locations on Earth. Meanwhile, Thanagarian terrorists attack Sardath and Alanna in Sardath's lab in Ranagar.

- Synopsis
- Adam and an injured Hawkman attempt to escape from enemy forces on Rann. Katar recalls how he got to this point after spending time on Thanagar as a police officer who was becoming increasingly violent with the criminals he apprehended. Meanwhile, Adam finds Alanna as a survivor of the bombings of Ranagar, however Sardath did not survive. Alanna and the Rannian council want to attack the Thanagarians in reprisal, however Adam thinks that some other party may be behind the attacks.

- Synopsis
- Adam and Katar travel to Kalador to track Despero, but find that he and the entire population of the planet are gone. Meanwhile, the Thanagarians are preparing for an attack by the Rannians led by Alanna. Despero, now on Rann, uses Sardath, who has been believed dead, to build a giant Zeta Beam projector which Despero uses to transport the Nth Metal core of the Thanagarian moon of Ryngor, which causes Ryngor to explode and rain down death on Thanagar.

- Synopsis
- On Rann, while battling Despero's army of mind-controlled Rannians and Kaladorians, Adam must destroy the Zeta Portal that Despero plans to use to invade Earth, while Katar and Despero have a final showdown. Katar unleashes all the Nth metal in his body into Despero, seemingly killing the villain, but draining his own life force. When the Zeta Portal explodes, Katar, Despero, and Adam are caught in the explosion and all are believed dead. Adam survives, but is trapped in a strange dimension, while at the edge of the universe, Despero's body re-forms and destroys Katar's remains.
