American Humorist was the name of the Sunday color comic supplement of the New York Journal up to April 1897 and later New York Journal and Advertiser from April 1897 until end of series. Alternate title could be considered as the American Humorist Colored Comic Weekly of the New York Journal and later as the American Humorist Colored Comic Weekly of the New York Journal and Advertiser.
Library of Congress Copyright Office Catalog indicates that there are issues as late as August 14, 1898, possibly another 34 issues (up to a possible issue #96), if this series remained weekly. Not confirmed as of September 2017.
