Escaping barbarians and their "Rainbow Doom" (a teleporter), he meets Alanna and Sardath, who had used knowledge from Samakand scientists to journey to Anthorann, but crashed. Adam dons a Rann spacesuit from the wreckage and faces invaders from Morleen, who swing a "diamondium" pendulum to cut open the dome of New Ranagar. Adam ray-blasts the shaft, then fades away to Earth.

He finds the original transfer machine hanging over a bottomless pit. Color streaks tell him the fuel was phosphorous. Scraping matches, he transports himself and Alanna back home, except they're tiny spies. Back on the desolate world, he rallies the Rannians and teleports to Rann. Credits for pencils and inks confirmed from Julius Schwartz's editorial records, provided by DC Comics. Pencils previously credited to Gil Kane.
A discussion on GCD Main felt that Carmine Infantino had probably sketched the layout, as he laid out and/or designed most of the DC covers between 1967-1975. Six respondents also felt that Gil Kane at least "had a hand in it" although two thought that there was no Kane input. Mike W Barr, in his Silver Age Sci-Fi Companion, credits Gil Kane as penciller.
