Synopsis
Silas Kent takes his two oldest boys and moves to Kansas in 1853, planning to bring the rest of his sizable family out later. Unfortunately, he runs into trouble from pro-slavery fanatics, especially one Luther Reid. Nathaniel & Jeb have to track down their father's killer when he is cowardly shot in the back.

Synopsis

Synopsis
The war is on and Nate is scouting for General Lyons while his brother fights with Quantrill. Nate has his horse shot out from under him and John Glenowen, fighting nearby, helps him out from under the horse only to get shot in the process. Nate then fires on his brother, finally leaving to get help for John.

Synopsis
Nate comes back for a visit and tells Joshua and Mary that he found Sandra Freeman, who later died. Also, Jeb participates in the raid on Lawrence, Kansas that claims 140 - 180 lives and personally kills Luther Reid, finally, for attempting to assault Mary and for the death of Silas, his father.

Synopsis

Synopsis
In 1873, Joshua returns to Smallville after John Wesley Hardin murders his father, but Nate talks him out of seeking vengeance. As Taylor works alongside Jeb in their crimes he becomes increasingly murderous. Using Mary as an intermediary, Jeb arranges to have Nate ambush his entire gang in Smallville. Taylor resists arrest and attacks Nate and his posse; during the clash, Taylor kills Jeb, but Joshua kills Taylor; Nate buries Jeb next to their parents. Jonathan Kent concludes his narrative to Clark by briefly summarizing the fates of the Kents' associates such as Jesse James.
