In correspondence with Dan Adkins Oct 2012 he mailed a letter and among other items enclosed was a photo copy of the published cover for Tales to Astonish (1959 series) #92. He wrote that Don Heck penciled the cover, and he inked, but that he was asked to redraw the Sub-Mariner figure.
“My favorite art by Don Heck. The inks are mine and I was asked to re-draw Subby. This was for my first Marvel story. The new Subby figure, by me has a fist and looks more mad than Don’s Subby. But the power and the mood is in the figure by Don.”

Outside, Hulk sees a 'flying saucer' and leaps to bring it down so the aliens can take him far from Earth. What he brings down is not a saucer but the mighty Silver Surfer!

- Synopsis
- Having 'caught' the Silver Surfer (believing him to be an alien starship), Hulk starts a fight with perhaps the only being on Earth stronger than Hulk is. The Surfer, irritated, knocks him out, then probes Hulk to discover the reason for his belligerence and discovers the damage done by the gamma radiation. Just as the Surfer prepares to reverse the damage and return Dr. Banner's life, Hulk wakes up and, seeing the action as an attack, lashes out. Disgusted, the Surfer leaves while Hulk vows to find the Surfer again and force him to take Hulk to the stars.

- Synopsis
- The FF help Surfer break the barrier of Galactus, ending his exile on Earth & granting him the freedom to roam the spaceways once again. The Surfer returns to Zenn-La to reunite with his love Shalla-Bal but finds that after he betrayed Galactus on Earth, the world eater devastated his home world in retaliation. Informed by the survivors that Shalla-Bal was captured by the demon Mephisto, the Surfer flies back to Earth & battles the monster in his own realm for her freedom. Beaten but still victorious, Mephisto returns Shalla-Bal to her home world while the Surfer is again trapped on Earth.
