Synopsis
Theo Adam, C. C. Batson, and Marilyn Batson find the tomb of Teth-Adam. Adam claims Teth-Adam’s scarab necklace for Sivana, kills the Batsons, and leaves with their daughter Mary. Sometime later, a stranger leads Billy Batson to a subway car that takes him to the wizard Shazam, who gives him the power to become Captain Marvel. Later, Billy sees Theo Adam setting a bomb and stops him as Captain Marvel. Adam then uses Teth-Adam’s scarab to become Black Adam. But when Captain Marvel fights Adam he realizes Adam’s power comes from the necklace and removes it, changing Black Adam back to Theo Adam.

Indexer Notes

Billy hawks papers at the corner of Parker and Binder streets, homages to Bill Parker and Otto Binder. Likewise, signs at the train station direct passengers to Binder Square and Beckville, the latter an homage to C. C. Beck (as is Billy's father's first name). During their fight, Captain Marvel and Black Adam crash a modelling session of a Bettie Page look-alike.
