Synopsis |
Superman continues walking across the country, visiting Des Moines, Iowa, and Kansas. Lois is in Kansas investigating charges that a chemical plant is poisoning the local ecosystem, when the plant explodes. Superman stops the fire and stabilizes the plant. He confirms the problem, but the workers convince him that the plant would have to be shut down because of the compliance cost, and they need the jobs. They even convince him to stop Lois from running the story. Lois can't believe it and leaves. |

Story continued from the previous issue, and continues in the next issue.
Straczynski had to drop writing this book due to the success of the Superman: Earth One graphic novel and the need for a sequel to that. Roberson was selected to continue the storyline, working from Straczynski's plots. In an interview with True Believer Reviews dated 2011-03-18, Roberson said this: "I haven’t had any contact with JMS, actually. All of my dealings have been directly with the editors Matt Idelson and Wil Moss. When I signed onto the book they gave me a rough outline that JMS had turned in for the remaining issues of the Grounded arc, which amounted to a sentence or two for each of the issues, spelling out in general terms where the issue would take place geographically, specific guest stars, things like that." He said similar things in other interviews. |
