Synopsis
Phil and Myra carefully plan their future. When Myra needs medical treatment for a dizzy spell, she overhears the doctor tell her mother that Myra has two months to live. Mrs Rolfe doesn't tell Myra about the conversation and Myra slips into despair as her plans come to an end. She breaks up with Phil--he would pity her while looking for the nearest exit. As the dizziness and headaches worsen, she tells Phil the truth. They go back to the doctor and discover Myra heard only half the story. An arduous operation is possible as a last resort if the condition worsens. The operation is successful.
Nancy talks about how to get back into circulation after a breakup, which requires more than announcing 'Hey, I'm free now.' Nancy recommends a throwing a party, where everyone will see for themselves that the ex is missing and provide a chance to talk. But she recommends being gay and lighthearted for a good party that leads to a few dates.
Ben's away in the army and every day posts a letter to Julie about his love for her. But it is Willie that writes the letters for him. Now Julie is visiting and the facade can't be maintained. Ben tells her the truth and she now wants to meet the person who had really been sending her love letters. Joe and Willie hatch a plot to send Julie back to Ben.
With a new barking dog in the neighbourhood, George has been kept up all night and is going to give the new neighbour a piece of his mind. But the owner is attractive farm girl Diana and the dog is for her protection. George pretends to like the dog and invites Diana on a date. But when the dog knocks him to the ground it is the last straw and he angrily insists she get rid of the dog or he'll shoot him. That's when Diana admits she doesn't really want the dog, but her parents insisted.
Jerry hitches a ride to New York, but really only needs to go to the next town. He does the whole trip to get to know the girl in the car with her father. And it works.
