Synopsis
Uncle Decky, the seafaring Flintstone, sends his parrot to nephew Fred to keep him out of the hands of pirates. Pete the Parrot has memorized the directions to Uncle Decky's treasure, but will only spill the beans to a familiar-looking face. So, the pirates kidnap family-resembling Fred along with the parrot, and force them on the trail to treasure.
Keywords
mistaken identity; parrot; pirates; sea or island setting; treasure

Indexer Notes

As in most such cases, Uncle Decky is a look-alike version of Fred, only with a big black pirate's moustache. Before any knowledge of the treasure is revealed to the Flintstones, Fred dons a fake pirate's moustache to look like Uncle Decky, in order to get the stone-silent parrot to speak. Enter the pirates...

First Line of Dialogue or Text
Pebbles has drawn six pictures for her father. Each picture is of an object whose name contains the word ROCK.
Genre
humor; domestic
Characters
Fred Flintstone; Pebbles Flintstone
Synopsis
Identify the words that Pebbles illustrated. All contain the word 'ROCK'. Answers at bottom of page.
Keywords
clairvoyance; word and picture puzzle

Indexer Notes

While most of the pictures that Pebbles has drawn (with a pencil, because you can't trust a baby with a hammer and chisel?) appear to be "Stone Age versions" of what they represent, she must also possess an uncanny gift for looking into the future. Among her clairvoyant scrawlings are "Plymouth Rock" (complete with a Pilgrim stepping off a ship), Davey [sic] Crockett with a flintlock (not "Davey Rockett with a flintrock"), and a rocket ship not made of stone or wood. Small wonder Fred looks so puzzled.
