- Synopsis
- Connie works in a factory with her boyfriend Larry, but desires better things. When factory owner Michim’s daughter Audrey seems attracted to Larry, Connie encourages him to go along so he can get ahead in his job. Larry eventually refuses to continue because Audrey is in love with him. Michim offers Connie $15,000 to leave town so Audrey can have a free hand with Larry. Connie takes the money then repents but Larry has found out. Connie finally confronts Michim and returns the check; Larry confesses he loves Connie and they are reunited.

- Synopsis
- Francie is engaged to Lee but she cannot forget her first boyfriend Frankie, who left town to seek his fortune. When Francie hears Frankie is returning, she fantasizes that he’ll be rich and successful and they’ll resume their romance. Lee angrily breaks up with her. Frankie shows up: he’s “heavy, slovenly--balding--and crude!” He borrows money from Francie and departs. Francie rushes to reconcile with Lee.
